GENERAL MACHINING RESPONSIBILITIES ¨ Operate mills, lathes, grinders and other machining equipment to make production parts and new prototypes for customers ¨ Do setups on all production machines ¨ Design, make, repair and modify fixtures ¨ Troubleshoot, repair and maintain machines ¨ Contribute to continuous improvement, new procedures, new ideas |

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ¨ Fabricate replacement and new parts for customers according to shop workload ¨ Fabricate, erect, install, and maintain facility machinery ¨ Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery ¨ Troubleshoot and repair facility machinery ¨ Complete daily maintenance and repair logs ¨ Communicate with operators from other shifts ¨ Maintain and secure work tools ¨ Clean and maintain work area ¨ Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use ¨ Other duties as assigned |

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS ¨ Basic reading, writing, and some advanced arithmetic skills required ¨ Experience using standard machining tools, like lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and saws ¨ Ability to read, interpret, and create blueprints and schematics ¨ Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers ¨ Ability to read standard gages and measuring devices ¨ Ability to lift up to 30 pounds required |

WORKING CONDITIONS Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. All machinery and tool operation requires the use of some safety equipment which may include, but not necessarily be limited to: safety glasses, hearing protection, and work boots. |

JOB DESCRIPTION Not all of the following activities are required for each person. However, if your skills fit a lot of these needs, we’d like to talk with you. ¨ Set up and operate conventional, special-purpose, and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts ¨ Fit and assemble machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques ¨ Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and requirements ¨ Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining ¨ Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required ¨ Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using measuring instruments provided ¨ Install machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance ¨ Operate welding equipment to cut or fabricate parts ¨ Develop specifications from general description and draw sketch of parts to be fabricated |
